This project is an adaptive re-use loft in the Danish style. Historic Opelika contains a multitude on untapped resources. By utilizing an existing warehouse space and transforming it into a living space for a family, the original downtown area remains intact. This process of adaptive re-use helps preserve the historical integrity of the space while being able to sustain the function of the structure. The idea promotes environmental conscientiousness by recycling existing materials instead of using new products. The design concept of the space is a study in the integration of a cultural aesthetic with a modern lifestyle in Central Alabama.
